SMARTaichi Tai Chi and Qigong presenter, and best-selling tai chi author, Bill Douglas, is an award winning novelist. His spiritual ethereal trillers flow with the same life energy, compassion, and expansive consciousness as his best-selling and globally acclaimed tai chi and qigong books.
Bill's novels, "A Conspiracy of Spirits," [a spiritual environmental thriller], and "2012 The Awakening," which won BEST FICTION OF THE YEAR AWARD from Spiritual Enlightenment Magazine, both have a Tai Chi Meditation Master at the center of these nail-biting consciousness expanding thrillers.
"Bill Douglas is one of the most remarkable writers of our generation ... on a par with Charles Dickens. "
- David W. Menefee Review:
Pulitzer nominated American author
"It’s so wonderful to read a novel in which Tai Chi is an integral component. I was so moved by how it illumined other effects, ripples, from my Tai Chi practice. I can see this clearly in my own life. I had stopped practicing, actually for about three years -- just overcome by family needs, caring for my elders, and – as was so compassionately shown in the book ... Rarely have I read a novel which has taught me so much. The involvement of Tai Chi in the story, has given me a renewed reverence for my own practice, and an interest in expanding and following my intuition, as our daily practice may have some higher purpose, beyond just ourselves."

Synopsis of "Conspiracy of Spirits":
A crime, perhaps the greatest in the history of humanity, is unraveling the fabric of the web of life. In Southern California, a corporate ladder-climber awakens in the middle of the night to find himself standing naked in his backyard, thunderstruck by the images flooding his mind. Compelled to write to make sense of what has just happened, he is guided toward issues in the Arctic. The feelings exploding through his heart and mind threaten to tear him apart--his only relief is in writing them down. Fifteen hundred miles away the nine-year-old daughter of illegal Mexican immigrants is plagued by a series of cataclysmic visions about Arctic polar bears. In Russell, Kansas, an aged Chinese woman is stunned by a violent vision of a young girl and a man connected in the vast web of life. The web has been disturbed by a crime of such proportions that its perpetrators have the blood of nations on their hands. She can only watch as the crime's rippling upheaval tears at life's fabric, leaving the two strangers' lives shattered in its wake. Their survival is entwined with the fate of us all. Will they make it? Will we? So begins . . . a conspiracy of spirits.

Plunge into the Story - Refresh your Mind, Body and Soul with Possibilities...
By Carol Liane Brouilleton
It was not a small surprise to find that at the center of the story is a practitioner of Tai Chi, breathing, becoming one with the great Tao, accessing important truths and breathing or conspiring with others connected by their own love of life.
In his introduction, Bill elaborates: "Conspiracy, literally translated, means to breathe together. It is of the same Latin root as spirit, or more precisely spiritus--breath. The ancient Chinese word Qi, literally translated, also means breath and life energy, or spirit. "However, unlike the Western concept of spirit, which is seen as an individual's life force, the Chinese believe that this force is shared by the entire web of life, connecting each one of us to--everything."
The plunge was swift and icy cold into Arctic waters, endangered polar bears, the diminishing ice caps, and the dangers posed by methane gas released from the ocean floors which could trigger irreversible climate change. From the Arctic to Southern California, from Northern California to Scotland to the state of Kansas, unlikely individuals' lives become entangled through dreams, visions, murders, high technology, mystic insights, art in a struggle over control over new energy technologies that could save the world from the domination of the oil, nuclear, coal industries.
The characters are multi-dimensional, filled with paradoxes, surprises, humor, idiosyncrasies, strengths, weaknesses, unusual knowledge, paranoia, illusions, innocence, a range of ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, miraculously brought together to avert catastrophe and assist the metamorphosis of civilization to serve rather than destroy the planet.
The Wall Street Occupations were a fantasy a year ago, then a vision, then a reality, and now a threat to be reckoned with, using all the instruments the State can drum up to disperse and neutralize a movement, animated more by love, solidarity and outrage that if quelled, is likely to reemerge in a more potent form. The occupations have mirrored the novel by bringing together disparate people united by the deep recognition that the vast majority is threatened by the criminal, collusion of a small percentage of the world's population which has corrupted and used the world's most powerful institutions to rob, bully and threaten the majority of humanity into poverty and slavery, and the ecological devastation of the remnants of the world's remaining life support system for the power and profit of the few. Knowledge and love can multiply into powerful forces under the right conditions.
A Conspiracy of Spirits - Wall Street vs. The 99% is a unique gift of love, commitment, knowledge, hope to fuel and empower trust, solidarity, understanding in this time of challenge and transition. I find it very hopeful and inspiring, and an irresistibly good read, as well!

A Brilliant novel which illuminates reality.
By Karen Jeffers Tracy
I highly recommend Conspiracy of Spirits! On one level, it’s an action-suspense novel, which not only illuminated the forces of greed which are manipulating public debate and resources for their own benefit, but also paints a powerful picture of the positive impact individual decisions and actions can have on the world.
I read it in two days straight – eyes glued to the page! At one point I was reading while cooking dinner and yelled “Noooo! Noooo!” The kids came running to see if I’d burned something, and when they saw the situation they patted my arm and gently suggested, “you could put it down...” I shouted, “No I CAN’T! The bad guys are almost getting them! I HAVE to see what happens next!”
I’m usually a nonfiction reader. So what makes this novel particularly satisfying to me, is the very real organizations, corporate and governmental agencies, that the fictional versions are based on. It’s a reality we all need to know more about.
On another level, it’s so wonderful to read a novel in which Tai Chi is an integral component. I was so moved by how it illumined other effects, ripples, from my Tai Chi practice. I can see this clearly in my own life. I had stopped practicing, actually for about three years -- just overcome by family needs, caring for my elders, and – as was so compassionately shown in the book -- just struggling to do what I had to survive day to day. My quality of life, quality of Being changed dramatically for the worse.
Rarely have I read a novel which has taught me so much. The involvement of Tai Chi in the story, has given me a renewed reverence for my own practice, and an interest in expanding and following my intuition, as our daily practice may have some higher purpose, beyond just ourselves.
Several scenes were so moving, I was weeping while reading. It was very instructive, to see a character “get it,” (connection) then lose it, numb out, even deny his experience, then find his way again. It was compassionate and realistic. And I can certainly relate to that. I've had extraordinary experiences from Qigong practice, but it's amazing how quickly the impact of "ah-ha's" can fade away in my mind, when covered over by the busyness and stress of having to do whatever needs done next. The next thing I know, the extraordinary experience is so far removed, that it no longer motivates me, or even seems real. It took a fiction story, to put me back in touch with what I experienced in reality!
I emerged from reading “A Conspiracy of Spirits” with a strong sense that one individual matters. Matters tremendously in this planetary crisis – the many crises we are facing together. And I learned how important it is for me to find my peace, before choosing where I can help the most, to see clearly what action to take. Instead of using my skills to “fill in as needed” with the causes I choose to volunteer for, I am now more carefully discerning what I uniquely have to offer. And I’m encouraged that through my practice, I, too, can step into that healing web of light and love.

A Conspiracy Of Spirits give a simple answer to the oil crisis.
By Peaceful Impact
A Conspiracy of Spirits may be the book of the decade. It grips us in the first sentence and compels us until the end.
Through the fiction genre, the author fleshes out the issues facing our imperiled world at this time. Through his research, he entwines meaningful quotes of respected enlightened minds such as Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, and offers up journalistic quotes that enrich our understanding of the story's circumstances.
Bill has done his research. His fiction contains a bird's eye view of geopolitical relationships that control our economic, environmental, governmental and even our personal spiritual worlds through less than free media owned by the corporate world. Bill talks about the pressing environmental war for survival without shoving it down our throats or preaching but by using a yin (giving) attitude available to someone who has bothered to self-contemplate.
Yes, his ability to, oh so simply, describe that tai chi relaxes the muscles on the bones - which it surely does - combined with his knack for building suspense, all in one book, demonstrate the way he weaves his very modern story through its vibrant life.
Finally, what's most impressive is that the book offers answers to some of the questions his plot brings up. Many writers and journalists outline flaws in our economy. What's different about this book is that the author points to very realistic and simple-to-execute answers to our dilemmas and how to turn our status quo greedy ways into world balance. Unlike most novels, where we are left to our own thoughts to conclude what to do, Bill spells out how to making the changes that will allow us to live synergistically with our resources and each other, all in a believable present day American presentation of loyalty, trust, family, faith, spirit and humanitarian concern for all people.

Entertaining and Important
By Bonnie Neely
A Conspiracy of Spirits: Wall Street Vs. The 99% by Bill Douglas's unique novel may be introducing a new and much needed genre: the mixture of fiction with universal spiritual concepts and nurturing our hurting earth.
The novel has characters with similar visions in different parts of the world, awakening to the great needs of people and nature to all participate in the healing of the earth to save our civilization before it is too late. The fascinating novel is imaginary but also has numerous spiritual underlying references which are known to all peoples throughout history and are now of GREAT importance to our generation to be a part of the tiny percentage of change that it takes to point the world into the shift that will save us and the larger population...we are at the tipping point and we MUST pay attantion to the universal truths hidden in this novel and save our home planet and ourselves before it is too late. Very interesting, well crafted, and unique... an enjoyable and also disturbing read.

Great detective story on the suppression of alternative energy technology
By Cecily T.on
Great detective story on the suppression of alternative energy technology. Even if you were not passionate about our planet and energy needs, it flows beautifully and becomes a "page turner" with great characters and suspense.
The book brings many worlds together seamlessly and is as informative as entertaining. Never preachy, it relies on the reader having some concern about money stalling progress to serve itself

Everyone should read this book
By Sheila Joshion
This is such an important book. And it's a page-turner, too. I learned so much. There were times when I couldn't put it down. And I teared up every few pages. As a couple of other reviewers wrote, this would make a great movie. It's very cinematic I used to wonder if global warming was really human-made or just a natural cycle. Then, I became convinced that humans were definitely changing the climate, but I thought it wouldn't affect me in my lifetime. Recently, a spate of information from various sources has convinced me that catastrophic climate change is here now. It is a factor in many international and national news stories every day. And soon it will have an impact that I can barely imagine on my personal, sheltered, middle class American life.
But we have a way out! If we will only be smart enough to take it. Before it's too late. Everyone should read this book.

Something ominously wrong with the earth quietly manifests in the ice fields of the Arctic Circle, where a polar bear cub nuzzles his mother. She smells the landscape for food, but what she senses are thick syrupy pops of methane bubbling to the ocean's surface. Miles away in the dead of night, Mark Dayton, a design engineer for North American Motor Corporation (NAMC), steals into the company's Mojave Desert Highway lab and captures in still photos and video the sight of the revolutionary SECar, a prototype solar car that he and his friend had labored over for years, as they are crushed into scrap metal to be shipped off for recycling. Something ominously wrong also festers in the shadows, as Dark Star Security tags him and quietly plans to follow him.
Elsewhere, stone-faced network newscasters are revealing disturbing findings of a mass release of sea mucus in the Arctic Ocean that indicate the planet teeters on the bring of a dramatically rapid escalation of greenhouse gasses that threaten to plunge the planet into ruin.
Dylan Granger, a fired corporate executive, finds himself drawn into this gathering storm. His friend explains, "If they had made such a breakthrough in solar energy, it could mean hundreds of billions in lost maintenance and resale profits worldwide over the years. Electric cars are very low maintenance and wear out very slowly as compared to more complicated fuel burning cars. Of course a solar breakthrough would mean that NAMC's parent energy company's gas, oil, coal, and nuclear assets would become groaning dinosaurs overnight.
Trillions invested in exploration, drilling, mining, transporting, refining, distribution--all worthless overnight!" Does the average working American and the worldwide peasants who make up the 99% of the world's population know anything about the looming disasters? Evidence that private security, Wall Street businesses, and the profit machines that fund politicians have lit the fuse of a time bomb that threatens to explode life as we know it begins to mount in layer upon layer of facts, intrigue, and unfolding mysteries.
Only since Daniel Ellsberg released The Pentagon Papers, has such an unfolding series of events captured Dylan's mind and heart, and the world's salvation hinges on the release of information about the criminal suppression of clean energy technology--if Dylan can elude Dark Star. The hunt for him is on. Through the mounting turmoil, an army of agents systematically close in--relentlessly working toward Dylan's street--and his house--to complete the circle on their map and attempt kill him, and the truth that the world needs to know will be squelched--again.
Maestro Bill Douglas orchestrates this word fugue with the aplomb of a master musician. The ever tightening web of intrigue draws the multiple story layers together until they weave a solid, clear, and genuinely frightening image of corporate greed hell bent on literally destroying our world in exchange for a continually flowing stream of oil money. Can Dylan escape Dark Star and succeed in sounding the alarm about the unfolding conspiracy?
The book's final chapters rivet the reader to each page. Bill Douglas plucks the strings of suspense with expert craftsmanship that rivals D. W. Griffith's Intolerance or Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. In fact, I felt as if I was watching a movie because the story's short, efficient scenes swiftly move along an enthralling, nearly cinematic cataract. Breathtaking apprehension actually reaches sublime proportions in an unforgettable climax that excruciatingly stretches tension to the breaking point.
Some readers may take exception with the author's redundant, repetitive overuse of the words Jesus and Christ as epitaphs. Slurring a deity in a book about spirituality strikes a discordant note in this otherwise masterful story that tumbles the reader through thought-provoking mindscapes of inner consciousness that are stirred seamlessly into an old-fashioned boiling pot.
This story not only should be read, but should be passed on to others. A Conspiracy of Spirits is about changing the consciousness of the people to better prepare them for what has been heralded as "the coming environmental turning point," and the book deftly describes the journey toward a form of spiritual maturity that may prove necessary to face the predicted looming crisis.
Bill Douglas' electrifying novels have a way of coming true. We will all know for sure about a year from now.

I have no Idea how Bill managed to get this book out on time to coincide with all the 99% Demonstrations ....the book was as amazing as the demonstrations were. People of all ages everywhere are beginning to fight the "Conspiracy".

Best Novel I've Read In a Long Time!
By Meria Helleron
Bill Douglas has a writing style that brings the reader right into the story. He manages to create characters and events that tie into real life that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. His last book "2012 The Awakening" should be on screen it's so exciting. I can say the same for this book. Where is Hollywood when great writers and stories like this are available to them?
I love his books and look forward to reading many more in the future.
